And in addition to outpatient and inpatient care facilities, Cologne’s healthcare centre is home to around 250 innovative and research-based companies in the fields of healthcare, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and medical technology.

The association Gesundheitsregion KölnBonn e.V. is a comprehensive, industry-wide network of companies, institutions, and associations in the healthcare sector. With around 130 members, the Cologne Bonn Healthcare Region showcases the region’s diverse healthcare expertise: cutting-edge medical research, education and training, medical technology, patient care, health insurance, and other areas of healthcare economics and communication.

ALFie – Alzheimer’s early detection in Cologne

ALFie is a project made possible by Lilly Germany. It aims to improve the early detection of Alzheimer’s disease by developing a cross-sector care pathway in accordance with the new S3 guideline.

To this end, a digital platform is being created to map the care pathway and strengthen cooperation between key dementia care stakeholders. The project is initially being implemented in Cologne in collaboration with the Cologne Bonn health region.
